Hello Gentlemen:
I'm a proud owner of the MR nice 6500 as well as a US Active duty soldier. MR also talors to military so to answer the question of the straps and such inside the pack (specifically those on the back of pack: They were designed with intent for military style communications radios that soldiers often have to carry in field. Those straps work perfect to hold the radio(s) securely inplace and on new versions the antennas stick nicly out the top of the pack through a zipper opening. I also use mine to hold a camelbak.
Anyway I've owned one for several years and mine's been loaded up to about 85lbs on several occasions and carrys great(nobody said the military had light weight gear). I also use it for my personal outdoor recreation (spending a little time in Denali Natl. Park when i was stationed in AK couple years back) as the durability, overal design and comfort is outstanding. I agree with everyones pros and cons with the pack...the pros far outweigh the cons that are minor (no pack is always truely perfect). Worth the money hands down.
Just thought I'd shed a little light to those inside straps and share my opnion.

Hi Jerod,

The rain cover fit my 6500 pack just fine, the hip belts got a little wet. and top of shoulder straps. I was even able to pull the cover enough to get it to stretch over the barrell of my .270 when strapped to the side of my pack, but that was making it pretty tight. It's pretty generous pack cover but if you're going to be loading that 7500 to the MAX you may want to search for something a little bigger, I don't know where?

How tight was the rain cover on your pack? I own the mr 7500 with a couple long pockets, and was wondering if the integral designs would be big enough for it.

EXCELLENT!!! I've have tried pack, well known to Elk and Deer hunter, from the Military ALICE, Badlands 2800,Sitka Bivy45, etc. and this year (2010) I am looking to have this same pack configuration from MR that you have spoke about. You just sealed my decision making. Thank you for the details and the pics. Greatly Appreciated!

Hey C172,

Thank you for the comments. I did not order any of the other accessories aside from the hp-belt and did not find myself "wanting" when out in the field.

The load sling is definitely a cool looking accessory but you'd have to take the 6500 bag off the NICE frame while in camp and then attach your load sling. I just empty the pack and take the whole thing with me.

The rain cover is an Integral Designs Silcover and is their "Large" size.

Hope this helps!
